A Difficulty (Grey) takes the form of a video testimony in which the voice of an unseen character relates her experience of “being grey”. If prevailing sociopolitical constructions of colour seek to codify it as a means for identification and control, the work approaches “greyness” as an achromatic force that undoes the colouration of colour as such. Grey unravels in the video as colour’s recession; it is the revelation that withholds recognition.
